Frequently asked questions
This website is a community platform dedicated to the Virginia Beach Class of 2027. We aim to provide free, local events for students to participate in a variety of activities, including arts & crafts, educational workshops, social get-togethers, and more. Our goal is to foster a vibrant community where teens can learn, laugh, make new friends, and thrive throughout their high school experience.
Most events listed on this website are free, but sometimes an event will incur an expense, such as trips to Busch Gardens or a shopping trip, etc.. For an event like Busch Gardens, you would just be responsible for obtaining your own ticket (or use your pass) and purchases within the park (Busch Gardens is now Cash Free). For a shopping trip, you are responsible for your own spending money, etc... If there is to be any kind of payment due, the event listing will provide details in advance, so there are no surprises.
Some events may require you to bring certain materials, but this will be clearly stated in the event description as well.
We're thrilled to hear you're interested in hosting an event! To get started, please visit the "Host" page on our website. There, you'll find information on the stages of hosting an event and a form to sign up as a potential host. Please keep in mind, we try to host FREE events, so keep that in mind when planning.
Hosts are selected based on their event proposals and then vetted to make sure we know who the host is and that they understand the responsibility entrusted to them with being a host. We look for events that align with our mission of creating engaging, fun, and educational experiences for our students.
Here is a guide for some of our criteria:
Age Requirement: The host will at least 21 years old.
Affiliation: The host will have a relevant connection to the community, either as a parent or guardian of a student from the Virginia Beach high schools, class of 2027, or as a staff member or recognized volunteer from the schools.
Experience: Depending on the nature of the event, we may require the host to have some level of experience or expertise in the activity they're leading. This is particularly relevant for skill-based or educational events.
Venue Safety: If the event is held at a physical location, the host should have a suitable and safe venue to accommodate the event. This goes for a home hosted event or a public outing.
Communication Skills: The host should have good communication and interpersonal skills to manage the event effectively and ensure a positive experience for the participants.
Responsibility: The host should agree to be responsible for the conduct and safety of the event, including adhering to community guidelines and rules, and overseeing the behavior of participants. They host will also need to complete the feedback form that will be emailed to them, after the event has ended, so we can
Availability: The host should have availability that aligns with the event's timing and any necessary preparations or follow-up.
Commitment: The host should express a commitment to fostering a positive, engaging, and safe environment for the teens attending the event.
We are always looking for creative, take charge, easy to talk to parents who want to be involved in their kids community.
Each event listed on our site includes a description that covers what the event is about, the type of event (social, educational etc...) and any specific requirements or instructions. Please read these details carefully to decide if an event is a good fit. Parents are welcome to drop off kids but are also welcome to linger for a while. It can be daunting just dropping your child off, even with a cell phone, so we do understand when parents want to observe. We suggest asking the host if they need help hosting or if there is a place for grown ups to hang out. We do try to give the teens their space, but also give consideration to the times we live in and in being cautious with our children!
